No Smoking Day 2024

No Smoking Day is an annual campaign that raises awareness of the health harms caused by smoking and encourages smokers to make a quit attempt.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of No Smoking Day, a celebration of the saved lives of countless smokers in London and across the UK. However, with roughly 1 million people still smoking in London, it also serves as a reminder of the support we still need to provide others to stop smoking.

This year, national No Smoking Day takes place on Wednesday 13th of March.

The real impact of smoking related health harm in London

Two in three long-term smokers will die of smoking-related diseases in the UK. Research also shows that smoking causes around 1 in 4 of all UK cancer deaths.

In London alone, almost 6,000 smokers will die due to smoking-related health issues this year [1]. Smoking causes around 7 out of every 10 cases of lung cancer.
